Lifecore Strikes Tech Transfer Deal for Commercial Manufacturing of Major Pharma Company Injectable

The program the agreement centers around is expected to generate commercial revenues in 2028.

Editor’s Take: By entering into this partnership, Lifecore accelerates pipeline growth but also expands its customer base.

Lifecore Biomedical signed an agreement with an undisclosed global pharmaceutical company to transfer a commercially marketed product to Lifecore’s pipeline. The technical transfer services will support a “strategically important” injectable drug product with “meaningful patient impact,” according to Lifecore.

For Lifecore, a fully integrated injectables CDMO, the agreement signifies the company’s seventh late-stage commercial program. It is also the 11th program added to Lifecore’s pipeline in 2026.

Details Scarce on Injectable

Few details about the product in question were immediately available. However, Lifecore CEO Paul Josephs said its “unique formulation” and “manufacturing complexity” align with Lifecore’s expertise. The team’s knowledge is especially applicable, Josephs said, to high-viscosity, complex products.

“Closing this opportunity reflects the solution-driven organization we’re building—one positioned to deliver durable, sustained growth,” Josephs said. “We’re proud to support this important therapy by applying our differentiated expertise to a technically complex manufacturing process.”

Lifecore Positioning for Future Growth

Josephs went on to discuss Lifecore’s growth strategy, of which a critical component is a revamped commercial approach. This focuses on adding high-impact programs to Lifecore’s development pipeline.

“The addition of this new program provides clear evidence that this strategy is working,” Josephs said. “Our late-stage pipeline [now] contains 13 programs that have the potential to generate commercial revenues by the end of 2028. We are not only accelerating pipeline growth but also expanding our customer base, including the establishment of another high-potential relationship.”

Lifecore says the program around which this agreement revolves can be expected to generate commercial revenues in 2028.
